Bikeshare Conversion & Operations

Classic Turnkey Bikeshare

Important Notes:

  • The final costs will be adjusted according to the complexity and extent of involvement in the tech conversion (both software and hardware) process.

  • We can operate any smart lock, be it cellular or Bluetooth, given access to necessary tech info and software cooperation from the vendor.

  • Access to the hardware vendor is crucial for potential replacement parts. If criteria aren't met, upgrading to our smart locks may be required for the conversion.

  • Not all assets may be converted if access to required data from the hardware vendor is unavailable, emphasizing the importance of cooperation for a successful conversion.

Our Questions:

  • What brand of smart locks do you have on the bikes? Can you send me a spec sheet and a picture of the locks & bikes?

  • How do you currently source hardware (whether for replacement parts or whole bikes), and how does that work (in terms of logistics/process, finances, and reporting/accountability) with your current vendor relationship?

  • What are some of the improvements you’d like to see in your program with a transition to new software/operator?

  • What is your timeline for potentially shifting to a new provider?

  • What are the barriers to doing so? What are your goals for bike sharing in the community? Is this more of a recreational or transportation amenity? Who are you serving? Who would you like to better serve?
